Spirit of Spaces: Co-dependent Spaces, Voids and Voyeurism

Spirit of Spaces is a library that focuses solely on the sequence of movements and the experience of going through it.

The library aims to extend the seamlessness of Melbourne's streets internally through a series of gentle undulating slopes. Using Light as its primary material, the translucent glass facade blurs the slabs between each floor and diffuses the interior evenly with light during the day. On overcast days, the building becomes monolithic, its cladding suddenly indistinguishable from the structure.

At night, these translucent walls are illuminated from within, transforming the building into a beacon of light visible from both the street and the city. The structure, light, and circulation intersect in a dynamic way to give a spatial energy that entice people to experience the space within.
